Data & Analytics Team Overview:

The Data & Analytics Team’s goal is to modernize the construction industry through data and technology. We are working as an internal startup, with the mandate of building a brand-new, world-class data and analytics platform in the construction tech space. Using over 50 years of industry experience and data, we will develop new ways to access KPIs and project metrics along with industry leading machine learning (ML) models to offer us predictive analytics to guide future projects.

Role Description:

STO Building Group is seeking a Data Engineer to build and manage a data pipeline with a wealth of construction data. The pipeline will ingest from various data sources, and then transform the data to the end data product. The Data Engineer will be responsible for building and maintaining the various environments, systems, and their health. They will help establish best practices around data governance, data quality, data lineage, and exception management. The Data Engineer will work directly with the Chief Data Officer (CDO) and other Data & Analytics team members to build the products for a world class construction company: STO Building Group.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and build a new data analytics pipeline
  • Maintain and enhance the data analytics platform with decades of construction project data spanning multiple business units
  • Create and improve database designs and data models
  • Perform and document data analysis, data validation, and data mapping/design
  • Build repeatable processes to clean and transform data into data products
  • Build and maintain separate data pipeline environments for the software development lifecycle
  • Review and improve existing systems and collaborate with teams to integrate new systems or data sources
  • Conduct quality assurance tests and develop database queries to analyze performance troubleshoot issues
  • Participate in building a data governance model, performing data lineage, and managing exceptions
  • Build and implement Continuous Integration and Continuous Development (CI/CD) process and practices across the platform

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7 years of SQL experience
  • Demonstrated experience with data management, data engineering and data analytics
  • Demonstrated experience with Python, pandas, R, or other similar data processing and analysis languages
  • Demonstrated experience with database management systems including Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or others
  • Demonstrated experience with GitHub or GitLab
  • Demonstrated experience building automated database tools and solutions
  • Demonstrated experience with Database Disaster Recovery Planning and Testing
  • Demonstrated project planning and scheduling experience
  • Demonstrated deploying change sets and managing all environments
  • Demonstrated experience managing security, performing audits, and ensuring good governance
  • Experience with agile process and best practices

Salary Range

  • Desired salary range $120,000- $170,000
