The South Dakota Department of Social Services is eagerly seeking motivated people who are committed to helping their fellow citizens. As a employee of the Division of Medical Services, during an exciting time of Medicaid Expansion, you will hold a special role to ensure medical data is encoded accurately to determine proper processing decisions. You will gain hands on knowledge of the different types of medical claims and how they interact with our software. Mail sorting, encoding medical information, providing training to others, recognizing and indicating discrepancies with Medical Claims and specials software, are some of the main focuses of this position.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Proficient alphabetical and 10 key numeric typing skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to understand and apply instruction
  • Work independently
  • Clear and concise communication

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Computerized software experience
  • Arithmetic suffcient to add and subtract/ use a calculator
  • HIPPA Practices
  • English grammar, spelling, and punctuation
  • Compare information and recognize discrepancies
  • exercise tact and discretion in dealing with others
  • Computerized software experience

This position is eligible for Veterans’ Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.
