Company Description


CASES is a New York City non-profit organization at the forefront of pretrial services, alternative-to-incarceration, and behavioral health treatment programs for people impacted by the criminal legal system. CASES seeks a highly motivated individual to work part-time as a data assistant in the Data and Analytics Unit. This position will provide a hands-on learning opportunity to work with criminal justice data, track recidivism performance and support the operations of the unit advancing data reporting and analysis solutions at CASES. The ideal candidate possesses superb organizational, attention to detail, and good judgment skills and is motivated to learn a criminal justice database and a customized Salesforce database.

All applicants must comply with CASES/NYC's vaccination policy. Individuals selected for employment cannot begin working until they provide verification that they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (with an FDA-authorized vaccine) or submit and gain approval for a Medical or Religious Exemption. Individuals approved for exemption must submit weekly PCR test results.

Reports to: Manager, Data and Analytics

We believe that in-person operations are the best way to serve our clients, both directly and through essential operational support. This job requires work in our offices.


Job Description
  • Learn and follow procedures for tracking participant criminal history data
  • Navigate and develop expertise in criminal justice database to extract criminal history information
  • Enter legal history information in case records in the Salesforce database to create comprehensive legal history profiles
  • Follow quality control procedures to ensure accurate data entry
  • Compile data into tables
  • Prepare criminal history data for monthly and quarterly reporting deadlines
  • Conduct ad hoc information and data requests for agency staff
  • Assist Manager, Data and Analytics with data projects
  • Perform duties in accordance with CASES’ mission, cultural competency, anti-discriminatory and other policies and procedures.
  • Perform other job-related tasks and projects as assigned

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s criminal justice junior/senior student
  • Knowledge of the criminal legal system, particularly in New York City/New York State
  • Proficient in computers and software, including Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Experience with Salesforce or other CRM systems a plus, but not required
  • Strong interest in data exploration and visualization tools (e.g. Power BI) preferred
