Position Summary

To work closely with the Ready Mixed Concrete customer over the phone, to ensure the proper mix, amount and other related information is received for scheduled delivery of concrete by performing the following duties:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely.

Answers incoming phone calls from customers. Takes orders for Ready Mixed Concrete, including mix design, amount, delivery, address, time of delivery or anything relevant to the order. Also suggests value added products that could be used with the ordered product.

Professionally represent the company and our products to the customer in a manner that is complete, truthful and factual. Occasionally may be required to explain company policies and procedures.

Enters information into the Command Alkon dispatch system. Assures accuracy of data input to the system.

Respond and interact with customers on the phone and satisfy their requests for concrete, including type, color, and timing. When appropriate, ensure customers are aware of the value-added products we offer.

By evaluating the customer s order, may suggest any enhancements like fibers, calcium, and non-chloride accelerators, or retarders that will aid in placement or finishing.

Analyze order information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and anticipate/solve problems.

Follow established phone courtesy standards. Uses tact and is polite when dealing with customers and employees; always strives for customer satisfaction. May be required to handle customer concerns/complaints.

May be required to perform administrative duties, as needed. Other duties may be assigned.

This position is paid monthly on the last day of each month.

Position Requirements and Education

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and a minimum one year of demonstrated work experience in high volume customer service industry with experience in dealing with specifics, and understanding the need for complete staff work; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have good phone skills.
  • Must be detail oriented and have the capability to learn all aspects of the job.
  • Must be extremely organized with strong time management skills.
  • Must have good people skills with an ability to listen, understand and assure complete information is received on all orders.
  • Good working knowledge of the layout of the city and surrounding areas.
  • Must be able to produce high quality, accurate work.
  • Must be skilled in solving problems with good workable solutions.
  • Detail ability and being able to multi-task is very important.
  • Must be able to to maintain business-like attitude when dealing with employees, drivers, customers and other personnel.
  • Must be flexible regarding work schedule. This is a small office environment where attendance and punctuality are very important.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

The work environment is very fast paced and at times can be very stressful when events outside of employee's control occur.

Requires attention to detail and an ability to anticipate potential exposures to the fleet.

Must maintain calm demeanor in dealing with others.

Extensive communication skills required-phone, radio, computer.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

This is a non-smoking campus.
