The Customer Care Specialist is responsible for initial order intake, reorders, follow-up communications and responding to customer inquiries. Full-time hours and part-time weekend hours are available.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:– Other duties may be assigned:

  • This position requires regular interaction with customers, doctors, referral sources, internal employees and insurance companies.
  • Handles inbound customer service and billing calls and responds to telephone inquiries regarding durable medical equipment (DME) and pharmacy from referral sources and patients.
  • Provides appropriate information on equipment, supplies, services, documentation requirements and billing.
  • Maintains accurate insurance verification information, delivery confirmation and other documentation as needed.
  • Handles all customer orders and inquiries; determines the best method for supplying services.
  • Performs accurate data entry duties for processing paperwork.
  • Resolves patient and home care complaints by identifying problems and helping coordinate corrective action(s) to be taken.
  • Works with delivery and warehouse staff daily on resolution of serial number issues and delivery confirmations.
  • Assists referrals and patients in coordinating delivery, set-up and pick-up of equipment and supplies with the appropriate personnel and location. Ensures deliveries and set-ups can be arranged in a timely manner.
  • Assists walk-in customers with selection of equipment and answers billing questions.
    • No supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Two years of work experience in a role requiring direct customer contact and quality customer service skills, preferably in a medical product setting.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of age-related human growth and development principles necessary to provide appropriate services and ensure safety of patients..
  • Strong telephone, verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Previous experience working with computer applications, printer, FAX machine, photocopier and telephone.
  • DME product knowledge preferred.
