  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Three years of curriculum design experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of instructional design principles and models.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices related to the development and delivery of courses, including principles to facilitate instructional effectiveness and evaluation techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Efficient verbal and written communication skills as well as demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of clients and cultures.
  • Skill in operating office equipment, including copiers, scanners, and computers.
  • Knowledge and ability to use standard office management software, including PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to edit content to ensure voice, grammar, and style.
  • Ability to distill complex concepts and language into content that is easily understood.



Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree
  • Experience writing instructional design specifications.
  • Project Management experience (PMP?)
  • Experience consulting on the design of on-ground active-learning/collaborative classrooms.
  • Experience training instructors on best practices in the use of collaborative classrooms with a focus on active-learning strategies.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite.
  • At least 5 years background in SWAT with a refined CQB background
  • At least 5 years medical background at the level of Advanced Paramedic skill or higher
  • ALERRT trained Adjunct, who is physically fit and capable of teaching every course offered or attaining that level of proficiency.
  • Experience working as an instructional designer in a fast-paced development environment.
  • More than 5 years of curriculum design experience.

Job Description
The Curriculum Development Manager will manage the design and development of ALERRT training programs, curriculum, methods, and materials for various audiences, to include both line and executive-level first responders, civilians, emergency managers, ALERRT staff, and others as needed. This individual’s position will require strong leadership skills to lead teams in developing curricula with topics that vary from tactical, medical, fire, and civilian response and mitigation skillsets in Active Attack situations, along with a “self-starter” attitude.

Job Duties
  • Consult with subject matter experts to define learning objectives and to design appropriate course content in the ALERRT training curriculum.
  • Provide outlines, syllabus, lecture notes, and materials for both in-person or online courses and ALERRT self-study programs.
  • Participate in the selection of software or collaboration tools used for development of training materials.
  • Report directly to the Assistant Director of the program.
  • Provide leadership to ensure that projects, milestones, benchmarks, goals, and associated tasks are completed within established timeframes.
  • Be responsible for managing instructional materials, providing recommendations to staff, adjusting the current curriculum, and providing instruction on all ALERRT topics as directed.
  • Travel 10% of the time to develop course material and audit course delivery.
