We are looking for an Engineering Director to work at our brand new, state of the art climate controlled facility located in Lewisville, Texas. The Engineering Director directs overall objectives and initiatives for the Engineering and Program Management Departments. Responsible for establishing and maintaining a strong engineering function to support the design-development and manufacturing processes that are within budget, delivered within prescribed schedules and ultimately provide our customers with products that are excellent in safety, quality and functional performance utilizing franchised content. Provides leadership for engineering, document control, and program management personnel. Collaborates closely with multiple departments, particularly with Business Development, Sales Engineering and Manufacturing to ensure continuity with engineering imperatives. How you will spend your time:

  • Work with the Customer, Business Development, Field Application Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations, Quality and other functional areas to efficiently and accurately gather requirements and turn them into thoughtful designs that seamlessly passes to manufacturing.
  • Build a team of subject matter experts in key process disciplines to manage and communicate design/development activities for custom power, battery pack, industrial control and thermal designs.
  • Develop training plans and drive continuous improvement.
  • Develop strategic initiatives for the Engineering and Program Management Departments. Plan and direct all aspects of the policies, objectives and process improvements through an understanding of customer and business needs.
  • Direct the support and execution of concepts for product designs, enhancements and efficiencies while maintaining a competitive position in the marketplace.
  • Monitor all work in progress to ensure that quality and engineering standards are met and that designs are effective through the entire process; reviews changes to designs or schedules as necessary and approves as required.
  • Provide and ensure the optimal application of current technology, engineering resources, and outsourced engineering services meet product and business needs.
  • Ensure product requirements are properly documented and end product is fully and correctly defined to be understood by all stakeholders.
  • Lead, coach, develop and retain high-performance engineering teams.
  • Maintain a tireless focus on continuous process improvement.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required.
  • Assume responsibility for standard compliance for all designs.
  • Assume responsibility for quote development based on unit design and labor costs.
  • Assist Quality Corrective Action (CAR) process by providing Failure Analysis reports in support of root cause analysis.

We’re excited if you have:

  • Possession of a Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent from an accredited college or university with major course work in Electrical Engineering.
  • At least 7-10 years of working as a design engineer, preferably in power electronics.
  • At least 7-10 years of engineering management experience.
  • Knowledge of Electrical Design software (PADS) and Microsoft Office products.
  • Documented ability to manage and organize multiple priorities.
  • Excellent at problem analysis, resolution and communication.
  • Experienced in design for product life-cycle management.
  • Design experience in DC-DC and AC-DC designs.
  • Experience with PMBOK program management process.
  • Conduct PFMEA, PPAP, FAI, reliability and failure analysis
  • Hands-on leader.
  • Fast learner that thrives on applying knowledge, learning new technologies and methodologies.
  • Ability to adapt to meet the rapid pace of an evolving environment.
  • Quality orientation and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and lead high performance teams.
  • Experience with change control processes and documentation.
  • Experience with ISO13485 and AS9100 Quality Programs.
  • Experience with CAD & PADS modeling and engineering requirements.
  • Experience with power safety protocol and design for product safety and emissions (IEC 60950-1, IEC 60601-1, EN55011, EN61000 & CRF 47).
  • Ability to think strategically and to envision and balance "big-picture" priorities.
  • Ability to travel approximately 10%.
  • Understanding of US/European/Asian Safety Agency Requirements (TUV,CSA & UL)
