Position description
CRNA supervisors administer anesthesia and anesthesia-related care independently or as members of the anesthesia care team. They provide/perform pre-anesthetic evaluations; anesthesia induction, maintenance and emergence; post-anesthesia care and follow-up; and perianesthetic support. The CRNA Supervisor role is responsible for the overall management of activities in a clinical anesthesia department and regional hospital anesthesia departments. The CRNA supervisor is responsible for ensuring that a positive mutual respectful and safe atmosphere is maintained in their areas at all times. In addition, the supervisor manages staffing/scheduling, education, Joint Commission preparedness, anesthesia equipment and supplies, and performance improvement activities. The Community CRNA Supervisor is responsible for developing a strong CRNA float team and assigns them to meet the anesthesia needs of the MCHS. They are expected to delegate tasks, as appropriate, to CRNA colleagues, but are responsible for accuracy, compliance, and timeliness of all delegated responsibilities. The supervisor works closely with the leadership of Surgical Services, Nursing, Pharmacy and procedural work groups to problem-solve and facilitate communication. The CRNA Supervisor role is a full-time position, hours are highly variable and call, weekends, and holidays will be required to fulfill the responsibilities of the role.

Qualifications
Graduate of a Council on Certification of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (COA) accredited school of nurse anesthesia. Credentialed by The Mayo Clinic Hospital Rochester Board of Directors and Midwest Executive Operations. This position requires a CRNA with experience as a staff anesthetist in order to gain background and job maturity. The supervisor must have a master's degree in either a business-related field or in nurse anesthesia or Nursing with a management focus. The supervisor must be an effective communicator, able to work collaboratively with anesthesiologists, CRNAs, surgeons and OR personnel and other managers and leaders of the institution. They are expected to work independently or with guidance from superiors.

Additional qualifications
Advanced Cardiac Lift Support (ACLS), Pediatric Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Life Support required. A Doctor of Nursing Practice is strongly preferred. Previous anesthesia management or leadership experience is strongly preferred. A Doctor of Nursing practice degree is preferred.

License or certification
A current Registered Nurse and an Advanced Practice Registered Nursing license are required. Certified/recertified (CRNA) by the National Board on the Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetist (NBCRNA certification). Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required for those working consistently with OB patients.
