Position Summary
Works alongside Memphis Police Department investigators by being present during victim notifications, photo line-ups, statements, and crime scene reconstruction regarding the reopening of a victim"s case. Provides holistic advocacy and support services to victims and survivors of sexual violence. Works closely within a multidisciplinary team as well as other victim service agencies, law enforcement, courts, county and community groups, and faith-based organizations to ensure victims of crimes understand their rights and are connected with the resources necessary to promote healing and resiliency after trauma.

Pay Grade 45
Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education Minimum Qualifications
100.00% - 1. Two (2) years of experience in crisis intervention or counseling/case management/advocacy of which one (1) year must have been working with people impacted by trauma; AND
2. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, counseling, criminal justice or related field; OR

3. An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.

4. PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED. Duties and Responsibilities
1. Accompanies law enforcement to victims" residence.

2. Provides crisis intervention and crisis counseling to victims.

3. Attends weekly multidisciplinary meetings with various agencies.

4. Provides advocacy and support services to victims of sexual violence, including accompanying victims to investigative and judicial proceedings.

5. Performs crisis intervention counseling and explains the resources, rights, and options available to victims of crime and their families.

6. Assesses safety and explains criminal justice process to victims of crime, as needed.

7. Monitors each assigned case to ensure a comprehensive and holistic response to victimization and trauma.

8. Coordinates and collaborates with partner agencies, including victim service agencies, law enforcement, courts, county and community groups, and faith-based organizations.

9. Attends court to support victims throughout criminal justice process and serve as a liaison to partner agency staff.

10. Assists the victim or victims" family in filing for crime victims" compensation and locating other funding options to help with financial needs.

11. Maintains confidential case data and notes and assists with data collection, analysis, and reporting as necessary.

12. Assists with the planning, development, and delivery of outreach and awareness presentations and events.

13. Aids in development and delivery of training for staff and partner agencies.

14. Performs other related duties as required or directed. KSA's
KSAs - 1. Ability to intervene effectively in crisis situations.

2. Ability to provide brief crisis counseling as needed.

3. Understanding of trauma and victimization, particularly sexual violence-related trauma, and their impact on victims and their loved ones.

4. Ability to effectively communicate in written form and orally, in a clear, concise manner, with staff, management, partner agencies, victims, and the general public.

5. Knowledge of the principles and techniques of social work/holistic case management.

6. Ability to deal tactfully with people from diverse backgrounds and situations.

7. Ability to use good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.

8. Ability to collaborate with Crime Victims & Rape Crisis Center staff as well as outside agencies on clients" cases.

9. Ability to accompany law enforcement investigators to client house visits.

10. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, specifically Word, Excel, and Power Point. Special Requirements
1. Must possess a valid Tennessee driver's license or secure one by date of employment.

2. Must have daily access to an operable automobile and meet County requirements for automobile insurance as of date of employment.

3. Must be able to respond effectively to crisis situations.

4. Must be able to work evenings and weekends as required. Disclaimer
