Cost Accountant Job at MERRILL Technologies Group
Overview: Serves as a liaison between Accounting and Quoting as it relates to costing. Analyzes cost data collected to estimate costs for current or future projects/programs. Provides cost consulting to other departments within the company as needed (proposal/quoting, project management, APEX, etc).
Specific Duties*: Develops proper controls over the costing system as defined in established procedures and specific work instructions, contract review (including alterations), review proposal costing/pricing prior to submission, ensure adherence to documented processes and procedures through internal audit functions, quote system oversight and enhancements related to costing and/or other related accounting functions, intermittent project costing projects, support of other departments within the organization.
Objectives: To gain an expertise in ERP and quoting systems related to costing and using that knowledge to maintain/enhance processes and procedures within the organization to ensure accuracy, cost savings, and continued growth.
Authority: Cost accounting activities
RELEVANCE AND IMPORTANCE OF POSITION TO QUALITY OBJECTIVES: Accurate records help keep the company viable and profitable and proper implementation of special projects ensures timely cost savings
Working Conditions
Environment: Typical office environment. Interaction with multiple departments on location or virtual. Frequent computer usage. Work independently and in team environments.
Physical Demands: Moderate level of mental stress due to nature of responsibilities
Hours: Salaried position, 45-50 or more hours as needed to meet obligations and deadlines
Travel: As needed.
