Mistras is currently looking for a Materials and Corrosion Engineer with experience and knowledge in one or more of the following areas of corrosion engineering and their impact on equipment and piping systems: process chemistries, degradations mechanisms, materials selection, corrosion mitigation methods, and corrosion monitoring techniques. The Materials and Corrosion Engineer will be experienced with various industry codes and standards such as API, ASME, and ASNT. Must be willing to travel up to 50%.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES:

  • Perform inspections, field audits, criticality assessments, and failure analyses.
  • Consult with internal and external clients regarding effective corrosion control strategies including monitoring and inspection activities.
  • Analyze inspection, operational, and environmental data to assess condition of fixed equipment and piping systems.
  • Complete initial identification of active and potential damage mechanisms based on process chemistries, materials, and corrosion mitigation methods employed by clients.
  • Prepare corrosion related documents such as Corrosion Control Documents (CCD’s) and integrity operating limits.
  • Assist with developing adequate inspection strategies targeting damage mechanisms.
  • Provide materials selection, corrosion, inspection planning and fabrication expertise for client projects.
  • Assist clients with corrosion and materials related failure investigations to understand failure mechanisms and develop inspection strategies to address failures.
  • Provide internal and external guidance related to analysis of inspection data.
  • Develop and deliver internal and external training to support materials, welding, inspection, and corrosion engineering requirements.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • 8 + years of experience in Corrosion Engineering for pressure vessel, process piping and aboveground atmospheric storage tank design and post-construction Engineering assessments.
  • BS degree in engineering, mathematics or pure science discipline. Masters or PhD a plus.
  • Experience in performing and supporting Risk Based Inspection programs.
  • Experience base to include petrochemical, chemical, refining, pulp and paper, conventional power, pharmaceutical, food processing, pipeline, municipalities and government.
  • Code experience to include ASME Section VIII Div. 1 and Div. 2, ASME B31.1, B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, API 510, API 570, API 571, API 58/581 API 620, API 650, API 653.
  • Solid knowledge of both core and advanced NDT technologies, and their applications and limitations in conducting fixed equipment and piping system assessments.
  • Self-directed, with proven ability to work complex, multidiscipline problems and deliver a technically correct and defensible engineering analysis that meets client demands on time and within the allocated budget.
  • Proven ability to work as both a team member and leader on cross-functional teams comprising core and advanced NDT technicians, client engineering representatives and company management in solving highly technical engineering problems.

  • Frequent lifting up to 30 lbs.
