Corrections Specialist Assistant - Hearings
Coyote Ridge Corrections Center

The Department of Corrections is seeking highly motivated and qualified individual for 1 (one) permanent Corrections Specialist Assistant at Coyote Ridge Corrections Center.
COYOTE RIDGE CORRECTIONS CENTER (CRCC) is located on a 60-acre site about 40 miles north of the Tri-Cities. CRCC is comprised of two-complexes. The Medium Security Complex (MSC) is a 2,048 bed facility that houses incarcerated individuals with Medium and MI3 Custody. MSC consists of 4 Hybrid units and 4 Medium units. The Minimum Security Unit (MSU) is a 480 bed facility that houses assisted living and MI2 Custody incarcerated individuals. MSU consists of 2 units. This is a work/program orientated facility that offers many educational, vocational, and self-help programs and Class II and Class III Correctional Industries work programs.

Duties

This position manages a legally defensible hearings process that supports safety to the prison population and the community through appropriate consequences for violations.

The duties of this position include but are not limited to:


  • Independently manage hearing packets from receipt of an infraction, up to the time of the hearing.
  • Review and monitor each hearing packet, ensuring that appropriate witness statements and continuances are obtained and that the Disciplinary Hearing Officer is advised of any delays.
  • Independently manage hearing packets from hearing completion until filing.
  • Receive and process appeals from receipt to filing.
  • Data entry of good conduct time restorations.
  • Maintain filing and retention as needed.
  • Run reports on outstanding hearings and address deficiencies.
  • Respond to public disclosure requests and documents requests from headquarters.
  • Assist Corrections Specialist 3 with period reviews/reports of CRCC Incarcerated Individual Disciplinary Office.
  • Inventory, order, and track evidence safety equipment and office supplies.

Qualifications

Requirements:


  • High school diploma OR Equivalent.
  • Two years clerical experience.
  • Type minimum of 50 WPM.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Working knowledge of computer systems and data entry programs.
  • Able to take and pass the Disciplinary Hearing Officer Training.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Knowledgeable with Washington Administrative Code (WAC), the Revised Code of Washington (RCWs), and policies relating to prison discipline.
  • 2 years experiences working with or around incarcerated individuals.

  • This position may be represented by a bargaining unit.

Telework Details
This position may be allocated for telework. Work may be performed from your home or another offsite location within the state of Washington using a reliable internet or cellular hotspot service at that time. Employees are expected to perform assigned duties in a safe manner, to take proper care all state-issued equipment, and maintain confidentiality of all information in possession while working offsite. Employees will be required to commute to a Department of Corrections facility or field office as business requires, to potentially include components of the onboarding process. Some offices will have a “drop in” area available, however, a dedicated workspace within a DOC facility will not be provided.
