Become a Corporate Communications Senior Advisor at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. As a member of Corporate Communications & Philanthropy’s Customer Communications team, you will lead communications for a portfolio of critical customer facing policies and programs that are crafted to help customers make clean energy choices. You’ll develop and implement strategic, integrated communications plans and will distill complex issues into easy-to-understand content and materials to tell SCE’s story to our customers, media and other stakeholders.

In this role you’ll also take the lead to identify priority communications needs and work closely with team members in Corporate Communications & Philanthropy, Corporate Affairs, Customer Service, Regulatory Affairs and others across the company to communicate in one voice to meet communications goals and help achieve public policies advocated by SCE.

A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!

  • Develop and lead PR campaigns to help shape the perception of media, customers, employees and other key stakeholders on key issues and programs.
  • Identify potential reputational issues related to portfolio of work and provide strategic recommendations and counsel to senior-level leaders and business partners to help protect the company.
  • Develop and execute external and internal communication strategies and tactics, including on potentially politically charged topics, that support company goals, program objectives and policy outcomes.
  • Write talking points, messaging, news releases, FAQs, media statements, Op-eds, employee communications as well as stories for Energized by Edison, the company’s storytelling platform, social media posts and more.
  • Track effectiveness of various campaigns and course correct as needed.
  • Serve as SCE’s representative on a number organization’s externally facing committees focused on reducing greenhouse gas emissions in transportation.
  • Work independently in a fast pace environment.
  • This position will also be expected to support crisis communications activities, including as a Public Information Officer and serving as part of the on-call media team to support company communications outside of “traditional” business hours.
Qualifications


The essentials

  • Ten or more years of experience developing and managing strategic, integrated communications plans that deliver results for a brand/company, either in-house or for a public relations agency.

The preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Business, or related field.
  • A track record of meeting deadlines and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously in a complex, fast-paced environment.
  • Experience developing media strategies and outreaching to media and maintaining positive relationships.
  • Experience in visual storytelling and implementing content strategy for online properties.
  • Experienced in communicating across different levels of the company such as customers, clients, colleagues and executives.
  • Strategic problem solver; self-starter; high degree of creativity to find new ways to achieve team goals.
  • Experience serving as company spokesperson.
  • Understanding of the transportation, energy industry and/or regulatory environments is a plus.
  • Prior experience on politically charged issues or crisis management.
  • A network of media contacts covering climate issues, transportation or consumer issues would be helpful.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Fluent in Spanish, Mandarin, Korean or Vietnamese.

You should know

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
