Western Suffolk BOCES anticipates the need for a Coordinator of School Planning and Research.

Start date: July 1, 2023

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • New York State Certification as a teacher, with a minimum of three years experience as a classroom teacher
  • New York Certification as a School District Administrator preferred
  • Minimum of five years experience with BOCES and/or school district matters

SALARY: Low $90,000 range

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To coordinate long range planning service available as a BOCES service to districts throughout New York State, including all program management and oversight issues, such as, budget, marketing, staff supervision, study research, preparation and presentation
  • To supervise and participate in the analysis of demographic variables and enrollment trends in order to formulate enrollment projections, educational facility analysis and the determination of viable school district operation alternatives
  • To integrate an extensive understanding of the interrelationship between demographics and educational factors to school enrollment
  • Comprehensive knowledge of enrollment projection and school capacity rating methodologies are vital
  • Excellent communications skills, precise attention to detail and consistent follow up required
  • Experience in computer applications, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word is essential
  • An understanding of geographic information systems (GIS) and how it relates to school planning
  • To oversee consultants’ work in planning facilitation, Superintendent Hearings, and/or grant development
  • To meet with various groups - primarily local county, town, village, and city officials, school district board, administration and committees
  • Travel to school districts across New York State as needed
  • Work schedule includes night meetings
  • Supervises support and program staff
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director
