Barrett, The Honors College at ASU is seeking a coordinator to support the core Barrett faculty. This position’s primary work location is at the Tempe campus, but duties may require work at other campuses. This individual will need to work with a diverse group of people from faculty, staff, students, and other university departments. This position will report to the Faculty Chair.

Essential Duties

  • Manage faculty budget. Responsible for processing reimbursement paperwork, tracking expenses, entering items into Workday.
  • Supervise student worker(s)
  • Assist with course preparation, materials, and marketing for faculty as directed. Liaison with Barrett Faculty to create course promotions in Trello, oversee course marketing planning, process, and execution in digital and physical flyers, Honors Digest posts, and direct email campaigns. Honors course marketing includes Fall, Spring, Summer, and Study Abroad/GIE courses.
  • Train as backup course scheduler for HON classes. Attend University Course Scheduler training and regular refresher sessions with the Barrett Course Scheduler.
  • Serve as project support and logistics for faculty programs, such as Barrett College Undergraduate Research Fellows and the ASU Regents’ Cup, including website updates, application forms, marketing submissions to Trello, Honors Digest, and email campaigns. Organize information sessions and coordinate and process HON 498 course overrides for students.
  • Manage student evaluation of teaching process; coordinate with UOEEE.
  • Assist with the scheduling of faculty search and recruitment activities
  • Coordinate onboarding of new faculty (scheduling, prepping materials, coordinating office needs, etc.)
  • Communicate with faculty regarding important deadlines
  • Provide event management for faculty-led events (Community Dialogues, faculty retreat, coffee chats, conferences, etc.). This will include making reservations, purchases, working with caterers, provide onsite support day of events and maintain files with all pertinent information relating to the event.
  • Report faculty concerns to appropriate department
  • Manage general faculty office area (managing display boards, TV presentations, etc.) and equipment for faculty (copiers, supplies, printers, etc.)
  • Complete special projects as assigned by the faculty and deans
  • Participate in college events as directed (Homecoming, Family Weekend, etc.)
  • Oversee textbook and course material orders
  • Making deliveries and pick up items as needed
  • Liaison to various departments (e.g., Advising) and serving on committees as directed
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND three (3) years of related experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

  • Experience in a higher education environment with honors college experience preferred
  • Experience in planning academic events, programs, workshops, and other activities
  • Evidence of effective communications skills (i.e., grammar, spelling, composition, punctuation and proofreading)
  • Experience with managing multiple projects; attention to detail
  • Experience working with sensitive information
  • Experience collaborating with a variety of stakeholders
  • Evidence of a Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Experience working with software programs like Trello, Stova, Astra

Working Environment

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse (75%); required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work (10%).
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds (15%).
  • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions
