Starting wage $16.00 a hour, wage based on experience

Our Dining Services department is a trusted partner to care for and provide excellent care to our residents. A Cook prepares starches and assists with entrée preparation for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Luther Manor cooks follow specific dietary restrictions and provides alternatives for our residents.

• Prepares starches, vegetables, salads and/or breakfasts according to menu and schedule.

• Assists in entree and sauce preparation as well as other production areas.

• Conducts preparations-work according to menu on a daily/weekly basis.

• Tracks and stores leftovers as necessary to utilize without waste while maintaining orderly freezers and coolers.

• Follows specific dietary restrictions and provides alternatives.

• Attend the daily production meeting.

• Other duties as assigned.

• Must be 18 years of age
• Previous cooking experience
• Experience in quantity food production or its’ equivalent
• Basic math skills when adjusting recipes which includes measuring and scaling
• Knowledge of safe and productive use of kitchen machines including mixers, processors, slicers, steamers, and computer-aided ovens
• Ability to work in a kitchen environment which includes enduring temperatures ranging from -8 degrees to 100 degrees
• Must be able to transport and empty food containers with an average weight of 50 lbs
• Reports directly to the Sous-Chef or Executive Chef
