Back of House Cook (AM Shift)

Requirements:

· 2+ years’ experience in a cooking or food/beverage-related position

· Possess a valid Food Handler’s Card upon hire as required by law

· Comfortable standing for extended periods of time, able to lift up to 50 lbs. with bending, reaching and twisting involved

· Able to work in a hot kitchen and fast paced work environment

Qualifications:

· A positive team player with strong communication skills; it takes a highly collaborative team to ensure workplace efficiency from the kitchen to the front of house

· Punctual with a great attitude and willingness to learn and grow professionally

· Great technique; knife skills, safe handling of equipment

· Knowledge of different cooking methods, and safe temperature management while checking and logging food temps that are stored, cooked, uncooked, and at the point of being served

· Familiar with a la carte cooking, meat temperatures, and presentation to create a finished product that is consistent with menu entrees and gourmet dining

· Able to read and write recipe cards and accept responsibility for accuracy of final product

· Time management: prioritizing tasks for timely completion and asking for help when needed will be expected of you

· Attention to detail; you know your portions, weights, measurements, and temperatures

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Prepare and cook all orders turned in by wait staff, ensuring that all orders are cooked in a timely manner, according to the recipe, using proper techniques, while maintain excellent presentation

· Keep work area clean, organized, and well-stocked for service

· Efficiently able to follow and execute recipes: making sauces, proper grilling, searing

· Prepare and cook food in a timely manner according to the projected prep list, following recipes, and safety procedures

· Ensure and maintain proper sealing, labeling, and dating of all food items

· Visually inspect, select, and use only freshest fruits, vegetables, meats, and other food products. Discard and log items appropriately when they are not up to standard

· Follow all health code standards and protocol. Maintain a clean food preparation area, cooking surfaces, equipment, and utensils

· Keep all food items and ingredients organized and rotated in accordance with food safety and Company Policy (FIFO-first in, first out)

· Uphold your performance by asking for coaching when needed to ensure that high quality, proper seasoning, great presentation is always kept at a high standard

· Operate all kitchen equipment in a responsible manner and keep equipment in proper working order

· Assist other stations as needed and in deep cleaning/sanitizing the kitchen area and equipment at the end of business day

· Follow and promote all safety protocols intended to keep team members and customers safe
