Controller
Location: Medford, MA

The Controller will be responsible for financial compliance and reporting by overseeing cash management and all accounting operations and procedures of the business. The candidate will be responsible for managing a team of 5 or more and assist in the training and development of the employees. The Controller will report to the CFO and the Owners of the Company while providing leadership in all aspects of the business including administration, financial reporting, accounting and budgeting.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Managing and supervising accounting and finance operations to enhance the accuracy of timely reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Overseeing, maintaining and enforcing a documented system of accounting policies and procedures (Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Payroll, Project Costing and Inventory).
  • Managing daily invoicing, payments, collections, periodic bank account reconciliation and debt payment completion.
  • Preparing weekly cash flow management reports and updated projections.
  • Preparing accurate and timely comprehensive periodic financial reporting that include accounts payable and accounts receivable reconciliation, cash flow report and balance sheet audits.
  • Coordinating the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit.
  • Improving existing accounting and workflow procedures.
  • Calculating financial and operating metrics.

Skills Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting required; advanced degree or certifications preferred.
  • 8+ years of accounting experience; background in public accounting preferred.
  • Advanced computer skills including MS Office, Excel, Outlook.
  • Netsuite experience or similar Oracle accounting experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and focus on accuracy of deliverables.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Experience at a larger, high-volume transaction company.
  • Experience with fixing and automating processes, including integrating bank fees, software modules, etc.
  • Management experience in training, coaching and counseling accounting staff.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
