Summary

Looking for an energetic early childhood consultant to assist in the development and implementation a variety of strategies to improve outcomes for young children. This position is both in person and remote.



Duties

Work in Collaboration with HPYC Coordinator on the School Readiness Grant, overseeing aspects of the School Readiness Grant in 3 programs, 13 classrooms, including classroom monitoring, program
support and committee work.
Develop and nurture a strong, supportive collaboration with public, private, subsidized, fee-based early care and education programs. Promote and support the implementation of best practices across the
early childhood community;
Understand the professional development needs for early childhood educators and identify strategies to address including coordination of professional development opportunities;
Work with community members, facilitate community partnerships and implement strategies in order to address the needs of young children and their families and the priorities identified by Hamden's
Partnership for Young Children;
Serve as a resource for parents and other community members on early care and education issues.

This position reports to the Coordinator of Hamden's Partnership for Young Children and the Partnership itself which serves as Hamden's Early Childhood Council

Requirements

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills:
At least 5 years experience in early childhood education which included administrative responsibilities
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in related field, Masters preferred
Experience in management, supervision, grant writing/reporting, event planning, meeting facilitation
Experience with program and professional development and parent engagement
Understands and applies adult learning strategies
Experience with and comfortable using office technology
Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
Knowledge of best practices in early care and education, including program management, curriculum and assessment, transition and developmentally appropriate practices
Knowledge of CT School Readiness Program, CT Early Learning Standards, State licensing and NAEYC accreditation preferred.

Benefits

Compensation as an Independent Consultant: $40/hour; 85 hours per month, year-round, must have periodic evening availability

The Partnership examines what young children, and their families need and how to improve the effectiveness of supports for families so that all young children are learning at their potential. The Partnership also receives and manages the CT School Readiness Grant for the Hamden Public Schools and serves as the local early childhood council. Collaboration with the Hamden Public Schools and the Town of Hamden is essential as we strive for community change and policy reform.
