  • Nature of Work

Support and assist the project team (including Project Manager, Superintendent, Estimators, and more) in assuring timely project completion. Duties on the Operations side may include developing jobsite controls, tracking reports, assisting PMs with budgets, and billings, change orders, submittal lists, and reports. Duties on the Estimating/Precon side may include assisting estimators with obtaining and recording bids in tab sheets, calling municipalities, quantity take-offs, and coordinating efforts with the operations team on hand-off projects or ongoing discussions with Design Build projects. Both duties will involve interface with subcontractors, owners, vendors, and company personnel to coordinate efficient project completion.

MW Builders has opportunities for Project Engineers that are focused in Operations/Field, as well as those that are focused in the office on the Preconstruction/Estimating side. If you have a preference between the two, please notate on your application. Candidate preferences will be considered but are not guaranteed – PE may be assigned where company’s strongest project needs/demands are.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities*

  • Create project management documentation that may include schedules, material purchases, cost management, progress charts, etc.
  • Coordinate and communicate with owners, vendors, crews, subcontractors, architects, and suppliers to facilitate timely project completion.
  • As required, conduct workplace inspections assessing quantity and specification/quality, percent completion by subcontractors, and safety compliance.
  • Develop operations and maintenance manuals and as builts, as required.
  • Exercise initiative or, as directed, perform additional duties to meet the needs of the organization.

  • May supervise hourly employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Education*

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college/university or equivalent experience.
  • Related field such as Construction Science Management, Civil Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering are preferred, but not required

Experience*

  • Minimum one year or more of related work experience required.
  • Experience within construction or labor-related roles are highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to learn new computer programs for project management / reporting purposes.

Scope*

  • Responsible for own work only; expenses, and to a large extent results, are closely controlled by work procedures and standards; may make some budgetary recommendations.

Guidelines

  • Works according to guidelines; any changes must be authorized by superior; may make some guideline suggestions.

Physical Demands

  • Physical demands for this position are moderate. Typically the employee may sit comfortably to do the work.
