The Tradesmen Group, LLC is seeking an experienced & thoughtful Project Engineer to service and facilitate onsite construction operations and flow of information and project details as well as coordinate on-and-off-site project logistics for a large-scale design-build masonry restoration project in downtown DC.

As a full-service building rehabilitation/restoration company, TTG self-performs multiple trades including all aspects of historic masonry restoration, roofing, architectural metals, carpentry, painting & more.

SCOPE OF WORK: The Project Engineer shall work in the field under the guidance of the Field Superintendent & off-site Project Manager to document job conditions, installations, treatments, alterations, additions, services of contracted and additional work, and documents materials and equipment needs/usage on a large-scale restoration project. Duties will also include coordination of project planning, logistics, material sourcing & support of QC and self-performing labor requirements for the project.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Competently document daily project reports of each day’s activities, events, & issues in coordination with Field Superintendent observations.
  • Deliver/communicate status reports/information/needs to project management, crew, and client on a daily basis to assist project progress.
  • Work with project executives, project managers, and superintendents to perform detailed quantity takeoffs, ensuring correct bill of materials and drawings for the scope of work.
  • Ability to use PDF software such as Bluebeam, Microsoft excel, and other similar apps/software to document and update progress drawings in a timely manner.
  • Operate or willingness to learn to operate hand tools and equipment necessary to perform investigative & exploratory tasks to confirm existing conditions and viable design ideas.
  • Performs other project-related duties and assignments as instructed by supervisor.
  • Review all plans and specifications, permits, set of drawings, and owner requirements with the superintendent & project manager to coordinate work plans.
  • Assist with documenting, processing, and distribution of all RFI's, Shop Drawings, Product Submittals, & other supplemental changes/modifications to the design.
  • Assist field and management with potential change order discoveries & their change in scope. Be able to turn-key the coordination process of change in design discovery to installation process.
  • Coordinate daily to support QC requirements on the project. Inspect general installed work for compliance with design documents. Ensure correct materials & processes are taking place. Document findings & remedy of the daily QC process.
  • Coordinate and/or perform any necessary inspections or testing on site with assistance from A/E to ensure materials are prepared and installed correctly.
  • Responsible for onsite assistance for technical/engineering conflicts and remediation for onsite project scopes of work and scaffolding/rigging items.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Experience and skills needed:

  • Position is 100% field position on an active construction project working with Field Superintendents, QC staff, & self-performing crew with common goal to safely perform quality work, while producing it efficiently and effectively.
  • The ability to consistently & regularly walk the site, climb scaffold system stair treads and maneuver comfortably through the construction site is required.
  • Ability to effectively be productive on administration/computer tasks within a jobsite trailer.
  • Ability to communicate effectively thru verbal and written methods, and work productively with client/owner representatives, project design team & professionals, and field and office staff
  • Ability to accurately read a tape measure for distances & dimensions and 4’ spirit level for level & plumb, to investigate & document field conditions.
  • Ability to work overtime or a flexible schedule upon request. Base weekly work schedule is 5 days a week/10 hours a day.
  • Willingness to undergo a federal background check for security clearance as well as pre-hire drug screening.
  • Self-starter with strong leadership skills and lead by example to mentor and train others and have humility to learn from others.
  • The current project is located in Washington DC
  • Knowledge and experience in all or some of the following:

* Microsoft 365 software apps: Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, Planner, Sharepoint

* Adobe Acrobat Pro DC/Bluebeam

* Auto Cad knowledge & proficiency preferred, but not required.

* Microsoft Projects 2020

* Project Management Software/App: Contractor Foreman (similar to Procore).

* Willingness to be trained in Engineer-of-Record Proprietary As-Built Software.

* Utilizing an I-pad to perform software/app activities.
