Job Summary/Objective:

Variety Child Learning Center (VCLC) is a not-for-profit agency providing educational and therapeutic services to young children with disabilities. We are seeking a Compliance Director who will be responsible for the management, oversight, and execution of VCLC’s Compliance Management Program. The Compliance Director will play a critical role by ensuring VCLC’s initiatives, activities, policies, and processes comply with applicable laws and regulations of its oversight agencies. The Compliance Director will identify, evaluate, and manage compliance requirements, oversee compliance activities managed by others, and support the various disciplines within VCLC.

Essential Functions:

1. Evaluates and reviews organization policies to ensure they reflect current regulatory requirements.

2. Act as the agency liaison to ensure VCLC meets its required obligations with all regulatory/oversight agencies, including but not limited to OCFS, SED, NYS DOL, NYS DOH, OPWDD.

3. Maintains subject matter expertise in applicable laws, regulations, regulatory guidance, and leading compliance standards.

4. Monitors federal and state websites (OCFS, OMIG, NYS DOE etc.) for guidance, reports, publications, etc. and keeps Administrative Leadership informed on any changes in regulations.

5. Updates policies as required to incorporate such changes and ensures any process or procedure modifications are instituted and complied with.

6. Performs audit reviews of activities, processes, and controls and communicates results.

7. Continuously monitor the internal and external environment for emerging risks, trends in data, compliance impacts, and regulatory focus areas and offers guidance on risk assessment to Administrative Leadership.

8. Ensures all key controls are documented and periodically tested for control design and operating effectiveness.

9. Participates in various committees, taskforces, and working groups; including but not limited to the IRC committee .

10. Work with Training Coordinator to ensure onboarding and annual trainings are accurate and up to date as it relates to regulatory policy.

11. Recommend appropriate risk and compliance training, and evaluate additional training needs

12. Promotes cultural integrity and adherence to the VCLC codes of Conduct and all applicable rules.

13. Report periodically to the governing board and the audit committee .

14. Performs such other tasks as may seem to be appropriate and requested by CEO.

The successful candidate will be self-starting and possess both analytical and strategic thinking skills. He or she will have exceptional relationship-building, facilitation, and communication skills, and will be able to seamlessly integrate with, influence, and drive change across the organization.

Required Education and Experience:

1. Bachelor’s Degree

2. 3-5 years of experience in risk, compliance, audit, or legal

3. Must have experience with once of the following state regulator agencies: SED, OCFS, OPWDD

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
