This newly created role, reporting to our Compliance Manager, is responsible for a unique blend of responsibilities supporting the execution excellence of Catholic United Financials' Compliance and Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) programs. This hands-on role will be a critical resource to our organization in all compliance related activities, which include monitoring, researching and corporate compliance activities, as well as playing a key role in the execution of ERM programs such as Business Continuation, Vendor Management, and Security Awareness Training programs.

What we will ask of you:

In the area of Compliance:

  • Monitor state insurance laws, rules, bulletins, and regulations to ensure that Catholic United is compliant in its operation as a fraternal benefit society.
  • Maintain all compliance-related policies and procedures.
  • Assist reviewing all external marketing materials/advertising before publication to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Research and respond to complaints from members, attorneys and state insurance departments about the sale and servicing of Catholic United products.
  • Research and respond to product-related compliance issues from Catholic United staff.
  • Assist with training on complianceā€“related issues.
  • Coordinate the creation of life insurance and annuity contracts and related forms with Catholic United leadership and consulting actuaries (as needed).
  • File life/annuity policy forms with state insurance departments; responds to objections as necessary.
  • Responsible for Catholic United's compliance with federal anti-money laundering regulations enforced by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN)

In the area of Enterprise Risk:

  • Support business leaders in maintaining the ERM program including plan updates, execution, and testing of Disaster Recovery Plans, Business Continuity Plans and Vendor Management Programs.
  • Collaborate with business leaders and key personnel to identify, create and/or revise risk appetite statements and risk tolerances and to identify key risks, key risk indicators to monitor, and risk adjustment strategies, as appropriate
  • Where possible, quantify business impact and establish criteria and scoring for qualitative judgment of risks
  • Maintain, modify and adapt the ERM program as we continue to grow
  • Research ERM best practices, staying abreast of those which specifically or broadly impact Catholic United's businesses.?
  • Maintain ERM and Vendor Management software and direct staff supporting management of these applications.?
  • Manage the relationship with Catholic United's regulators
  • Ensure compliance with Catholic United and Affiliates' Board of Directors' ERM policies, and any companion Internal Monitoring Reports.
  • Provide regular presentations to the corresponding Board of Directors covering the status of ERM outcomes and related activities.

What we'd like to see in your background and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent business/work experience
  • Five or more years of experience in customer service in the life insurance industry, with additional experience in compliance/legal activity preferred.
  • Working knowledge of basic life insurance and annuity concepts and products and exposure to strong Enterprise Risk Management programs is helpful.
  • Attainment of (or significant progress toward) FLMI, ACS, and AIRC designations strongly preferred
  • Attainment of other industry designations (such as FIC, FICF, and CLU) desirable
  • Experience working with Cloud-based platforms/applications, as well as the full Microsoft product suite
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Experience with business analysis or requirements elicitation, analysis, and solution discovery
  • Experience filing insurance products with state insurance departments using SERFF (System for Electronic Rate and Form Filing) a plus.
