The Town of North Hempstead Parks and Recreation is looking for a Community Group Service
Worker 1. This position performs recreational, administrative and enrichment activities.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Community Group Service Worker 1 plays a critical role in the successful operation of the day-to-day operations of the Parks Dept. The position is responsible for providing a safe and positive environment for members, while performing various duties as require. Community Group Service
Worker 1 assists in developing and implementing various programs involving community youth services and performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under general supervision, the duties involve organizing and motivating youth groups to participate in action projects for community benefit.

TYPICAL DUTIES
1. Conducts meetings to discuss with and involve youths in issues of concern and recognition of community problems.
2. Organizes and initiates action on projects to utilize youth services.
3. Stimulates youths to engage in clean-up projects and follow-up inspection programs.
4. Organizes peers to distribute brochures, pamphlets, and information regarding projects of benefit to the Town and its ecology.
5. Mobilizes materials and resources necessary to implement proposed programs.
6. Prepares simple oral and written reports.
7. Maintains simple records.
8. Provides straw-boss supervision for volunteers, as required.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1. Some knowledge of group leadership.
2. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with youth groups, superiors, community organizations, and the public.
3. Ability to motivate volunteer workers.
4. Ability to prepare simple oral and written reports and records.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Training and Experience

Completion of two years of high school education.

Annual $47, 471 Hourly $22.82
