Position Summary:
The Commodity Manager manages a supplier base and strategy for designated commodity group within Faurecia Interior Systems outsourced. Commodity groups are plastic, chemicals, decoration, metals, mechatronics, packaging, tooling and equipment.


Responsibilities:

  • Acquires knowledge of the market, suppliers, technologies and processes
  • Actively engage with Business Group Commodity Director on strategy development and execution Actively engage with Business Group Commodity Director on strategy development and execution
  • Evaluate suppliers according to Faurecia Interior Systems selection criteria with the Plants buyers and project buyers
  • Leads the development and implementation of Quality, Cost and Delivery improvement programs with the plant buyers, using VA/VE, cost analysis, Kaizen and lean manufacturing tools
  • Ensures that targets for Costs (Purchasing and productivity indexes), Cash (PT&C), Quality (PPM and incidents) and delivery budget targets are met for his/her commodity
  • Travel approx. 35% (North America and Europe)
  • May include direct report supervision
  • Propose continuous improvement ideas in business efficiency and cost reduction
  • Capitalizes on knowledge and shares best practices / lessons learned across organization and within the site

Position Specifications

Authorities:

  • Conduct strategic negotiations for commodities responsible
  • Makes the sourcing decisions in conjunction with the Vice President of Purchasing, Director of Commodity Purchasing and the Project Buyers
  • Negotiates contracts in line with Faurecia Interior Systems cost, quality, delivery and technological capabilities targets


Knowledge / Skills:

  • Excellent knowledge of specific commodity products – Molded plastic products (with good knowledge of process, decorative parts (painted, chrome, in-mold decoration, plastic raw materials, knowledge will be a plus)
  • Working knowledge of Spanish, German or French will be a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Performance needs to be in accordance with the Faurecia core and manager competencies


Education / Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields:
    • Business, Finance, or Engineering
    • and/or equivalent experience within a purchasing role
  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years of successful experience in purchasing or manufacturing interior parts for the automotive industry
