College Program Supervisor - PDX Connect Avenues to College Job at New Avenues for Youth (Non-Profit)

Your New Role:

This management position provides oversight of Avenues to College, which supports youth, particularly those in foster care, to access, persist and succeed in post-secondary education as well as the August F. Kalberer Scholarship Fund, other college preparation and attainment activities, as well as connections including housing, and wraparound supports. This position works very closely with the PDX Connect department supporting youth in foster care, but also works to facilitate access for youth across New Avenues programs. Oversight includes, daily operations, hiring and supervision of direct service staff, cross-program and agency coordination, outreach and community liaison, funder relations, contract implementation and compliance, and program development and evaluation. Note that this position requires some flexibility with hours and is part of the on call supervisor rotation.

Skills & Attributes:

· Desire to work with multicultural youth and staff in a diverse setting

· Proven ability and commitment to working with BIPOC and LGBTQIA2S+ youth, staff, and community members as well as other providers, particularly with understanding of Trauma-Informed Care, Positive Youth Development, and Strength-Based approaches.

· Strong relationship development and community outreach skills

· Strong organization and documentation, tracking skills

· Knowledge of post-secondary education, as well as resources and systems youth engage with

· Demonstrated ability to work effectively with and gain the respect and support of diverse stakeholders

· Demonstrated ability to handle a variety of projects, to be detail-oriented and to problem-solve

· Must have access to an automobile, a valid driver’s license, and active auto insurance on that vehicle.

· Must be willing to be CPR trained and certified.

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work or related field, Master’s degree preferred
  • At least 2 years of experience working with youth who face multiple barriers

· At least 1 year of program coordination, supervisory experience preferred
