Purpose: Provide prompt, friendly service; provide consistent, high-quality sandwiches; and maintain the salad bar and soup station in the deli.
Specific Responsibilities of Co-op West Main (CWM) Deli Service Staff
Customer Service
- Ensure prompt, friendly customer service at the sandwich counter, salad bar, and elsewhere as needed throughout shift.
Food Preparation
- Prepare high-quality sandwiches in a timely and efficient manner.
- Maintain high-quality salad bar and soup offerings in an efficient, visually appealing, and timely manner.
- Use proper storage, product rotation and labeling procedures.
- Document out-of-stock and waste items following department procedures.
- Monitor and record temperatures at regular intervals.
- Maintain working knowledge of the products the Deli sells.
- Complete food prep for the salad bar and sandwich station as needed.
Department Maintenance
- Maintain prep areas in sanitary, orderly condition meeting Health Department standards.
- Maintain sandwich and salad bar area in an attractive and sanitary condition.
Other
- Complete other duties as assigned.
- Experience in retail food service that demonstrates the ability or aptitude to successfully meet all expectations listed above desired.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business; early morning, daytime, evening, holiday, and weekend shifts required.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. throughout shift, occasionally 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand for long periods and to bend and twist repeatedly; ability to lift product overhead and/or to climb ladders with product.
