DESCRIPTION

UC San Diego Department of Dermatology, Clinical Trials Unit conducts sponsored and investigator-initiated trials on several dermatologic diseases, including psoriasis, rosacea, and atopic dermatitis (among others).

Under general supervision, conduct, organize and operate research protocols and clinical trials involving dermatologic diseases. Ensure coordination of clinical trials including recruitment and retention of study subjects. Independently responsible for data collection and management, quality control activities, coordination of site visits and study audits, adverse event reporting, and blood draws, if necessary and if certified.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Theoretical knowledge in a biological or social science and transferable experience performing clinical technical support duties, working as a clinical research associate, or a clinical research coordinator.

  • Knowledge of research methods and protocols and rules of patient confidentiality.

  • Understanding of medical terminology for screening and recruitment in the context of a clinical trial of investigational agents.

  • Knowledge of FDA and IRB guidelines associated with clinical trials.

  • Demonstrated experience recruiting study subjects.

  • Demonstrated computer skills including word processing, data entry, and email capabilities.

  • Organizational skills and ability to accurately report data.

  • Clear and effective communication skills, including telephone, in person and writing.

  • Good interpersonal skills with ability to interact with diverse groups of staff, research subjects, and investigators.

  • Experience with shipping clinical samples and complying with shipping standards, conditions, and timelines to maintain integrity of samples and data.

  • Experience developing clinical trial research forms for subjects.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $70,157 - $112,815 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $33.60 - $54.03

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
