Child Safety Worker Job at JCCA
Job Summary:
Maintain a safe and comfortable work environment for children and staff.
Essential Generic Job Functions:
- Make safety assessments and support clinical staff when clients are in crisis.
- Attend trainings to maintain and develop professional skills related to the position.
- Provide prevention education and awareness when required.
- Assist in the transportation of clients to hospitals or other facilities if required.
- Provide a presence in the building throughout the day.
- Provide desk coverage for receptionist
- Ensure that all clients and staff have left the building at the end of the workday
- Remain with staff until the building is locked
- De-escalate parents and youth by using de-escalation techniques.
- Provide assistance to Office Services when needed.
Contacts: Engage with clients to establish a professional relationship.
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to frequently perform physical restraints.
- While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to perform light recreational activities (i.e. Walking, swimming or playing basketball )
Knowledge, Education and Skills Required:
- Have knowledge of the Residential Treatment Center safety protocol and assist with implementation when necessary.
- High School Diploma / GED
- Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification
- Valid New York State Driver’s License.
