JOB SUMMARY:
The CNA – Hospice position is responsible for providing personal care, assistance with activities of daily living and arranging a neat, comfortable environment for patients in the Hospice program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job, an individual must perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- Provide personal and hygienic care for patients such as bathing, hair, mouth and skin care under the supervision of professional staff
- Check vital signs, i.e., blood pressure, temperature, pulse and respirations
- Establish relationship with the patient and family that promotes trust and provides emotional support
- Record observations of treatment and care given; report any significant change in the patient’s condition or problems to the supervisor
- Assist patient and/or family in maintaining a clean, safe environment
- Provide light housekeeping, linen changes, laundry, meal preparation and companionship
- Prepare simple meals and assist patients with eating when needed
- Other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Utilize effective communication skills when interacting with patients, families and co-workers
- Basic understanding of medical terminology and durable medical equipment (DME)
- Willing to travel to other office locations and assist with staffing as needed
- Work requires knowledge of the homecare industry, and Medicare regulations
Work Experience:
- Six (6) month’s experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred
- Hospice experience preferred
Licensing/Certification/Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Current State Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license
- Must be able to successfully complete and pass the Company’s Competency Evaluation
- Current CPR Certification
Other Requirements:
- Position may require unscheduled overtime, week-end work
- Must be willing and able to work flexible hours
- Travel required
- Must have reliable transportation
- Current State Driver’s License
- Current auto liability insurance according to Company policy

- Personal protective equipment
- Standard medical equipment
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- This position does not have supervisory responsibilities
Working Conditions:
- Job will require frequent lifting of objects up to 50 pounds
- Work is performed in a standard home health environment
