Job Summary

Under general supervision of the department manager, medical staff, and nursing staff the Oncology Medical Assistant Technician follows policies, procedures, and professional guidelines. The Oncology Medical Assistant Technician provides clinical and clerical support such as patient rooming in addition to assistance with medical procedures, cleaning of equipment, chart preparation, obtaining referral notes, images and lab results prior to patient visits. This position is responsible for verifying with patients their demographic, confidential clinical information, and financial information necessary to accurately register and schedule appointments. The role will also include the ability to efficiently verify insurance eligibility and identify services that require an insurance authorization. Job duties are in accordance with the mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital.


Qualifications

Required Skills

High School diploma or GED. Medical Assistant Technician Certificate required. Graduate of a Medical Assistant program required, or two years of experience required. Prior Physician’s office experience and/or oncology-related experience preferred. BLS certification required upon hire or completion through internal training prior to release for clinical duties.
