Palomar Heights Post Acute Rehab is looking for an experienced Certified Dietary Manager to join our team.

Purpose: To ensure our patrons receive quality nutritional services on a daily basis.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure Food Services Department is maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner.
  • Assist the Dietitian in planning, organizing, developing and directing the overall operation of the Food Services Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing our facility.
  • Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the Food Services Department, its programs and activities.
  • Coordinate food services and activities with other related departments (i.e., Nursing, Environmental, Activity and Social Services, Etc.).
  • Assist in developing and maintaining written food services policies and procedures.
  • Assist in performance evaluations for each level of food services personnel.
  • Interpret the department’s policies and procedures to employees, residents, visitors, government agencies, etc., as necessary.
  • Assist the food services staff in the development and use of departmental policies, procedures, equipment, supplies, etc.
  • Assume the responsibility of obtaining/maintaining/filing material safety data sheets (MSDSs) for hazardous chemicals used or stored in the Food Services Department. Ensure staff is aware of and knowledgeable.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Must be registered as a Certified Dietary Manager in this state.
  • Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma.
  • Must have, as a minimum five (1) years of experience in a supervisory capacity in a hospital, nursing care facility, or other related medical facility
  • Must have training in cost control, food management, diet therapy, etc.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must be knowledgeable of food services practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations and guidelines governing food services functions in nursing care facilities.
  • Must possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
  • Must have the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc., of the Food Services Department.
  • Maintain professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, etc.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
  • Understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures
  • Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to Code of Conduct and completes mandatory Code of Conduct and other appropriate compliance training

Physical Capacities: (With or Without the Aid of Mechanical Devices)

  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Possible bending, squatting, twisting and reaching
  • Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met
  • Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility
  • Must be able to stand for and walk for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position

Environmental Conditions: Inside work, normal kitchen temperatures, some noise, occasional fumes/odors, potential exposure to bodily fluids.

Pay: $31.00 - $35.00 per hour
