Description :

  • Client is currently implementing the Enterprise Analytics
  • Platform (EAP) project. UW-Madison IT teams and client project teams are working collaboratively tocreate an AWS data lake that will be shared across multiple administrative project and operational teamsincluding ATP, ASP, and EAP as well as with the vendor HelioCampus, whose software helps deliverenterprise tableau reporting needs from an Amazon Web Service (AWS) Virtual Private Cloud (VPC)securely to users at some or all of the 13 UW-System campuses.In order to realize the UW data lake, a variety of initial AWS tool, configuration, and set-up choices will need to be made and implemented in the UW AWS space.
  • UW-Madison DoIT public cloud team is in support of the EAP project and consults with the EAP/ASP/ATP project teams, but does not have the resources and time to administer the EAP AWS space.
  • In order to meet EAP and other administrative project deadlines, an acceleration of work around AWSconfiguration, set-up, and tools is necessary. This acceleration would be done with the goal of buildingan operational data lake structure that could start to ingest “ponds” of governed enterprise data asEAP/ATP/ASP requirements start to work through EAP governance on various timelines.This acceleration could be addressed by focusing existing EAP project resources, such as the development team, temporarily into roles that will focus on the AWS set-up work, since it is foundational and a blocker to other work they may do on the project at a later time. Additionalconsulting resourcing would be necessary to support this group with AWS expertise.

Consultant details and funding

  • . The resource will be focused specifically on AWS data lake set-up and configuration tasks that would initially align with the tasks identified in the Acceleration Goals section below. This position could be temporary during the life of the AWS acceleration. Decisions could be made after the acceleration around further needs from this role.
  • Skills needed – AWS Set-up of a Data lake, AWS Tools (redshift, S3, Athena, glue), AWS Security,
  • Higher Education implementation experience, Experience in the following higher education data domains – Finance, Budget, Research, and HR. AWS Architect Certification is needed. The AWS Big Data certification is recommended for this position.

Acceleration Team Technical Deliverables

  • Stand and support an AWS environment which will allow Data lake V1.0 to exist for initial uses

cases:
o Integration POC – PICH
o Data warehouse POC – Job History Dashboard
o ATP Conversion (a subset of 200 key PeopleSoft tables in HRS/SFS)

  • Stand and support the implementation of PreCog (Data Ingestion)
  • Stand and support the implementation of Collibra (Data Governance)
  • Stand and support the implementation of ER Studio (Data Modeling)

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $90,989.21 - $185,299.96 per year

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
