The Opportunity

The Underwriting Associate is responsible for achieving the skills to analyze risk in (re)insurance proposals, determining acceptable policy terms, and calculating premiums on the basis of actuarial, statistical, and background information.

Core Accountabilities include:
  • In a close collaborative environment, underwrite new and renewal business, including all tasks associated with risk and coverage analysis and pricing, and provide sound recommendations for proposed terms to colleagues with appropriate acceptance authority.
  • Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines/ philosophy and adherence within underwriting authority to produce desired profitability.
  • Maintain high standards for thoroughness, accuracy, and consistency of work product.
  • Build effective working relationships across departmental, internal companies and clients, while maintaining diplomacy to drive successful business outcomes.
  • Develop strong market presence by being active in client and broker marketing and industry meetings.
  • Participate on any project that impacts the business unit or division. impacts the business unit or division.
  • Develop and deepen insurance knowledge by achieving the proper industry designations.

Your profile

  • Entry level to 3 years of reinsurance or insurance experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Experience in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Power BI preferred
  • Core competencies include ensures accountability, manages ambiguity, communicates effectively, manages complexity, customer focus and negotiation.
  • This role will be based out of our Princeton office.
