Eligibility: Ages 18-24 and resident of Kalamazoo, Calhoun, Branch or St. Joseph County
Participants may be paid a stipend for participation (based on program eligibility)
Job Description:
CareerNOW offers free, short-term occupational training and apprenticeship opportunities to individuals who are interested in obtaining an industry recognized certificate or credential and gaining related employment upon completion of the training. Participants in CareerNOW receive supplemental soft skills training, technical training, community-based internships and job placement assistance. As a career pathway model, CareerNOW is designed to assist individuals in not only obtaining certification and employment, but also to develop a plan for continuation in post-secondary education leading to careers in industries with in-demand occupations.
Available Training Programs
The certification programs through CareerNOW are all state- and nationally- recognized certifications/credentials. Training programs are selected based on participant interest and industry demand. Examples of short-term training programs include:
- Early Childhood Education
- Certified Nurse Aide (CNA)
- Phlebotomy
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
- Patient Care Aide (PCA)
- Apprenticeship opportunities:
Skilled Trades

Training courses are held at training facilities throughout Branch, Calhoun, Kalamazoo and St. Joseph counties.
