JOB IDENTIFICATION

Job Title: Camp Director – Dance & Arts Camp/Camp ReMix

Grade: N/A - Specialty Instructor

SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS


Reports to: Cultural Arts Manager

Supervises: Camp Coordinator and Camp Art Director


Work daily from 8:30 am until 3:30 pm for an 8-week period as the on-site supervisor and coordinator of camp program operations, including Dance & Arts Camp and Camp ReMix.


BASIC FUNCTION

Directly in charge of the coordination of the day-to-day operations of all camp programs, and supervision of all camp staff and participants. Must be able to effectively communicate with campers and staff. Must be able to physically accompany campers, interact with campers, deal with improper behavior, and address emergency situations.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Work daily from 8:30 am until 3:30 pm for a 8-week period as the on-site supervisor and coordinator of camp program operations, including Dance & Arts Camp and Camp ReMix. Report directly to the Cultural Arts Manager. Directly in charge of coordination the day-to-day operations of all camp programs, and supervision of all camp staff and participants.
  • Responsible for the completion of all general re-camp and daily routine paperwork.
  • Organize camp program agendas and Spectrum descriptions.
  • Prepare camp Parent Information packets.
  • Conduct staff interviews and assist with the hiring of the camp staff.
  • Coordinate and Supervise Helping Hands Assistants.
  • Oversee annual setup and cleanup of camp building.
  • Coordinate and conduct in-service training.
  • Oversee camp program budget and expenditures.
  • Maintain an inventory of camp equipment and supplies.
  • Help provide an atmosphere for developing good morale and well-being among the staff.
  • Oversee staff development meetings.
  • Day-to-day administrative and supervising tasks.
  • Take telephone calls and answer parent questions and concerns.
  • Responsible for promoting Park District programs and developing positive public relations.
  • Monitor safety and all procedures as they pertain to the complete supervision of all campers.
  • Approving camp activities as programmed by staff.
  • Meet with Cultural Arts Manager and Camp Coordinators on a regular basis.
  • Troubleshoot to prevent potential problems from developing.
  • Any other related duties.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: Must be 21 years of age or older.

Previous camp experience desired.

Administrative leadership experience.

Skill and experience in group dynamics, communication, administration, and youth development


Certifications: CPR and First Aid Certification

Must pass Illinois State Police Criminal Background check.

Individuals employed for this position must be able to effectively communicate with campers and staff. Must be able to physically accompany campers, interact with campers, deal with improper behavior, and address emergency situations
