Summary:

The Call Taker 2 functions primarily as a call-taker telecommunicator and also as a crew resource person. They are responsible for receiving, recording, and effectively managing requests for ambulance transports from various sources. The Call Taker 2 receives a request via phone, radio, email, or fax and utilizes a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system to input the information. The Call Taker 2 is responsible for answering incoming emergency and non-emergency calls, triaging calls using Emergency Medical Dispatch procedures, and making outgoing calls updating customers on delays when necessary. The Call Taker 2 will also assist with matching up solo employees to create a crew, receive phone calls from field employees that need to be processed and keep Telestaff up to date.

Duties of this Position:

Demonstrate excellence in customer service skills with both internal and external customers.

Willingness and flexibility to learn new tasks and procedures.

Understands and adequately implements the concepts of Emergency Medical Dispatch when triaging calls as a minimum standard of care.

Ability to maintain professionalism and a positive attitude in high stress situations.

Ability to multitask in distracting situations when the room is busy and loud.

Responsible and accountable for completeness and accuracy of inputting call intake information.

Ability to learn and demonstrate thorough geographic knowledge of all service areas.

Demonstrate good listening skills, problem solving, verbal and written communication with attention to detail.

Follow up customer service calls where necessary.

Maintains a current working knowledge of all company policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and memorandums.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED.

Ability to type at least 35 words per minute.

Skilled in reading and writing English.

Ability to obtain company paid Emergency Medical Dispatch System certification after class.

Ability to obtain company paid CPR certification after class.

Proof of Covid-19 vaccination or able to provide valid exemption

Regular and predictable attendance.

Adheres to all company policies and procedures.

Mental Requirements:

Simple reading and writing, problem solving, judgment, reasoning, memorization, and decision making.

Salary Range: $21.63 hr - $25.74 hr (This rate applies to 12 hour shift and average 42 per week)
