SUMMARY
The successful candidate will be able to support multiple office renovations (largely furniture relocation/arrangement) projects for the Pentagon. Drafter will need to take information from project manager notes and rough sketches and formalize them into working drawings. Drafter will develop moderately complex 2-D working drawings from engineering notes, sketches, and/or detailed drawings, to provide to the customer and project team to document office space reconfiguration. Drafter will be required to conduct site visits to validate office space and annotate updates within the drawing files. Person must be located in the NCR and be available to work in the Pentagon. This is a fast-paced environment and will require the drafter to conduct walking site visits of multiple office spaces.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Includes the following (Other duties may be assigned):

  • Utilize ACAD2000 software to prepare plans from rough sketches and/or from general engineering and design information according to established standards and procedures.
  • Update project drawings based on conducted site surveys of office space within the National Capital Region (NCR)
  • Compiles data and performs dimensional and routine calculations required for the preparation of drawings.
  • Lay out and plan interior room arrangements using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment and software.
  • Draft plans and detailed drawings for renovations and construction projects, working from sketches or notes from site visits.
  • Review rough sketches, drawings, specifications, and other engineering data to ensure that they conform to design concepts.
  • Makes required changes, additions, and/or revisions, as directed by project managers.
  • Works closely with project managers and customers to ensure a coordinated design.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Associates degree in drafting or related field
  • 5+ years’ experience in CAD drafting and engineering assistance tasks
  • Demonstrated independent work
  • Prior federal project experience with related codes and specifications is preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain federal government project site and systems accesses.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Highly skilled in CAD software (include AutoCAD 2000)
  • Proficient in the use of the HP plotter (loading paper, troubleshooting)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Comfortable with surveying and sketching on a hardcopy floor plan
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently and work independently with little supervision
  • Familiarity with Pentagon is preferred, but not required
  • Active Secret Security Clearance
  • US. Citizen
  • Requires a Common Access Card (CAC) or the ability to obtain one through a federal investigation.
  • Ability to successfully pass a federal background check and a drug screen
  • Cherokee Federal has suspended it’s COVID mandate. However it’s important to note that Cherokee Federal employees are included as covered employees in U.S. Presidential Executive Order 14042, which mandates Covid vaccines for federal contractors. Executive Order 14042 is currently not subject to enforcement by the Federal government. Therefore, Cherokee Federal has suspended application of the mandate and continues to monitor the government’s guidance on administration of any vaccine requirement.

  • Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must be local to DC.
  • Work will be performed on-site.
