Summary:
Operates computer-aided design (CAD) system and peripheral equipment to create applicable material to support customer and production needs. The CAD operator is responsible for ensuring systems are built to support a controlled design. The department provides applicable information to other departments/team members (layout drawings for review/approval, spec drawings to estimating, layout drawings to die cut pre-make ready, etc.).
Responsibilities:
  • Reviews work order and procedural manuals to determine critical dimensions of design.
  • Enters specified commands into computer to retrieve design information from file and display design on CAD equipment display screen.
  • Using the computer and specs to create the following: structural designs, coating blankets for printing, spot-up sheets for Die Cutting, 8-1/2 X 11 drawings, files for plate room, die vinyls, files for e-mailing to customers/graphic houses, die boards, and die board layouts.
  • All Project I must be approved to meet our production capabilities and/or the capabilities.
  • Work with other departments to enhance our service to internal and external customers.
  • Keeps accurate production records to ensure traceability, including the completion of all QMS required forms.
  • Responsible for the ordering of dies, communication with die vendor, initiating purchase orders in Imaginera, etc.
  • Utilize the skills and knowledge to generate cost effective and/or efficient layouts for estimating and production.
  • Maintain a work environment to promote cleanliness and safety to meet and/or exceed our QMS requirements.
  • Performs additional tasks as needed for internal departments, sister division, customers, etc. Examples include but are not limited to sample mock-ups, samples for shipping tests, pack cases, etc.
  • Support, perform, and promote company policies and programs (dress code, PacSecure, ISO, vacation use, log sheets, etc.).
Qualifications:
  • The individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have the ability to read, write, and comprehend documents and verbal instructions in English for Safety, ISO, and work-related tasks.
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Must have the ability to read, write, and comprehend simple and complex instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Must be able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Must be able to speak effectively before groups of customers, vendors, or employees of organization.
  • Must have ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
