POSITION OVERVIEW
Under the supervision of the Material Control Manager, the incumbent effectively controls inventory in relation to cost and quantity while supporting the plant's production needs in a high performance team environment. Adheres to safety/GMP procedures and ensures a safe working environment, meets and/or exceeds product availability expectations and assists in achieving process reliability goals. Works with scheduling, quality, production supply planning, corporate purchasing, corporate transportation management and product development to meet our customers needs. Manages, develops, and maintains relationships with internal and external vendors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Analyze and purchase standard, industry common contracted material requirements by balancing inventory goals vs. MRP production requirements
Schedule and track all dock deliveries, documents issues for resoltuion of carrier failures.
Determine cost effective shipment methods for expediting materials
Position will manage existing supplier relationships, cultivate new supplier relationships, and ensure that all standards for quality and service are met by suppliers. Interact with Plant Leadership to specify the precise product standards and service criteria that is expected from McCormick suppliers. Optimizes buying power and CBAs (current best approaches) by working collaboratively with Buyers from other McCormick divisions.
Serves as liason to Corporate Purchasing and will provide feedback and recommendations for improvement to vendor performance and issues.
Serves as a liason for vendors and preferred suppliers. Places daily orders with vendor, monitors the process, and expedites deliveries. Analyzes product usages to maintain safety stock levels to optimize both cost and service and meet inventory objectives

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED in relevant discipline
Minimum of 1 year of experience in purchasing or technical background in a related field.
Strong contractual / negotiation and written and verbal communication skills.
Must possess appropriate level of business sense.
Ability to read detailed and technical reports and interpret the data.
Demonstrated proficiency with PC software, especially SAP, Excel , Word, and Lotus Notes.
Must be organized and methodical and able to remember a variety of processes and detailed steps .
Possess strong industry knowledge to include vendors, raw and finished goods materials.
Knowledge of tools available in the industry to effectively monitor performance indicators.
Must be able to compose various written coorespondence to internal and external vendors and co workers
Must have strong oral and written skills with all levels of the organization and vendors.
