Busser/Food Runner Part time AM or PM Job at Morrissey's Lounge & Bistro
ABOUT THE POSITION
The busser/food runner is a tipped position that supports the server team by providing all of the products and services not directly related to ordering and serving food and alcoholic beverages
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS
- Serves all forms of water (still, sparking and “tap”) based on orders taken by the servers, ensuring that the guests have a reasonably full glass but while not appearing at the table too often
- Describes and serves all varieties of bread, including daily specials
- Clears all tables, with the support of the wait staff, and crumbs all tabletops after the main course
- Serves all forms of coffee and tea (regular, French press, espresso drinks, hot and cold) based on orders taken by the servers including creamers, sugars and other amenities
- Bring Food from kitchen to Dining Room
- Packages all left-over foods on a course-by-course basis, labels them, and ensures that the bag is presented to the departing guests as they are ready to exit the restaurant entrance
- Coordinates with the Hosts to ensure that all coats are ready for the guests when they are near the Host Station and ready to depart the restaurant
- Completes opening and closing side-work as assigned
- Must be willing and able to perform any related or similar tasks assigned by their supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS
The employee must possess the following experience, education and skills and/or be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some comparable combination of knowledge and aptitudes
Experience
- Previous luxury guest service experience preferable
- Previous bussing or fine dining service experience preferable
- A good general understanding of restaurant and/or food and beverage operations desirable
Education
- Secondary school degree required
PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
- Pleasant personality with good communication and interpersonal skills, especially verbal, with guests, co-workers, management, and other parties
- Excellent grooming and presentation with a good sense of decorum
- Very self-confident and mature; able to accommodate employees and demanding guests
- Good self-discipline with an ability to complete tasks independently
- Good discretion and independent judgement in evaluating situations and determining courses of action
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, issues, co-workers and guests in stressful situations and take responsibility in a professional manner
OTHER
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Physically fit and agile; able to carry 40 pounds
