We are seeking a consultative sales hunter to drive new business growth within a defined region selling specialty chemical water treatment solutions for industrial boilers, cooling towers, and wastewater applications. As a Business Development Manager, you will develop and close new industrial, commercial, and institutional accounts targeting power plants, food manufacturers, petrochemical plants, steel mills, paper mills, bottling facilities, animal processing plants, universities, hospitals, hotels, and more. Our client is a rapidly growing North American chemical solutions-provider with a 30-year legacy of top-tier performance in the water and wastewater treatment industry.

Essential Job Functions include:

  • Build a new book of business throughout your local region while providing water treatment chemicals for boilers, cooling towers, and wastewater applications.
  • Identify and secure new customers and business contracts within industrial, commercial, and institutional market segments.
  • Create and execute long-range and short-range business plans that build a robust sales pipeline.
  • Work closely with technical staff and R&D to determine unique solutions tailored to each client.
  • Lead the development, negotiation, and presentation of contracts, pricing, and commercial proposals to prospective and existing clients.
  • Provide superior onsite service and light maintenance at newly acquired accounts, while leveraging field engineers and account managers to service and maintain established account business.
  • Work from a home office and travel as needed to drive new sales growth.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field is preferred.
  • 10+ years of success selling water treatment chemicals for boilers, cooling towers, and/or wastewater applications.
  • Strong network of relationships with industrial, commercial, and institutional accounts such as power plants, steel mills, chemical plants, food manufacturers, pulp and paper mills, meat processing facilities, hospitals, hotels, and/or schools.
  • Familiarity with testing and interpreting water chemistry such as pH, hardness, acidity, conductivity, alkalinity, sodium nitrite, molybdate, ammonia, phosphate, aerobic bacteria, etc.
  • Entrepreneurial drive with the ability and desire to build your own territory.
  • Clear track record of high sales growth and substantial new account acquisition YOY.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience using a CRM database such as Salesforce or similar system.
  • Maintains a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.

This position offers flexibility to live anywhere east of the Mississippi River and will operate out of a home office. Compensation includes an attractive base salary commensurate with experience, lucrative uncapped sales commissions, and competitive benefits.
