SUMMARY
The Wedding Sales Manager sells destination and regional weddings as well as special events for the resort, maximizing opportunity for additional events during a wedding weekend. This position is responsible for coordinating all wedding sales and related business by performing the following duties.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
(include the following, other duties may be assigned)

  • Meet with prospective wedding couples for planning and site inspections.
  • Determine and confirm availability of event space, lodging, food and beverage needs
  • Communicate food and beverage capabilities for the resort; from private functions to dining outlets.
  • Offer and promote additional resort products and services such as, but no limited to: rehearsal dinners, brunch, ceremony, reception, bike park, ski/ride, nordic and snowshoe, etc.
  • Create proposals based on needs, interests and expectations of the client, encompassing all facets of the resort.
  • Prepare multi-layered contracts and agreements, covering all aspects of the event time frame.
  • Close sales and all aspects of sales management.
  • Attend regional bridal shows.
  • Seek out online and traditional publications for promoting weddings.
  • Work closely with lodging office and other sales managers to confirm availability for lodging options
  • Follow standard billing and cash handling procedures and collecting of event payments
  • Monitor room block fill and adjust as needed to meet the need of client and align with space availability
  • Be on site to execute booked weddings and events.
  • Prepare all quotes and final invoices accurately.
  • Act as a Customer Service Representative to solve guest issues before and during events.
  • Perform weekly, bi-weekly ,seasonal and annual reporting.
  • Work with Director of Sales and F & B Director to ensure menu and venue pricing is updated annually.
  • Accurately follow cash handling procedures, returns and adjustments. Investigate client issues that may result before, during or after their event(s). Work closely with the Director of Sales to provide the appropriate resolution to those issues.
  • Work closely with Director of Resort Sales to coordinate and implement wedding product and pricing updates on an annual basis.
  • Accurately follow cash-handling procedures, returns and adjustments.
  • Other duties as assigned, which could be directly related, or unrelated to original position.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


COMPUTER SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of all Microsoft Office software, including but not limited to word, excel, CRM, accounting. Strong computer skills needed.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must hold a valid State of Vermont Driver's License and be eligible for enrollment as a driver on Burke Mountain Resort Commercial Automobile policy.


OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES

Ability to speak comfortably in front of large groups of people. Ability to travel long distances, for day or overnight Sales missions and daily email and phone communication with prospective and current clients.


OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Must be flexible and able to adapt to a fast paced environment. Ability to work weekends, holidays and evenings as needed.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.


RESORT CONDITIONS

This is a Winter Resort Area. It requires that work venues are varied, and in many cases include steep stairways, multi-level buildings and outdoor work areas, subject to very cold, sometimes wet or very sunny work sites. Some facilities are located at the base or bottom area and some are semi-remote and can only be reached by traveling via chair lift(s), skis or snowboards. Walking surfaces are frequently frozen, sloped and slippery. Proper footwear is a must, indoors and out. Work days and hours, as well as the number of hours required will vary, with an emphasis on weekends and holidays.
