POSITION OVERVIEW


Brookline Adult & Community Education (BA&CE) is seeking reliable, responsible, and mature high school and/or college students to work as Student Aides during the school vacations in December, February, and April.


Vacation programs are typically offered to children in grades K-8 and are often held at Florida Ruffin Ridley, Runkle or Lincoln School locations. Assignment locations are based on program needs and may vary.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:


Under the supervision of the classroom teacher and/or BA&CE staff, Student Aides will:

  • Assist the teacher as directed
  • Gather/distribute materials and supplies
  • Assist individual/small groups of students during daily learning activities and play time
  • Monitor the lunch and bathroom break lines as directed by the teacher
  • Escort students to/from the classroom or nurses office (if on-site) for minor needs or as directed
  • Assist the teacher in returing the classroom as it was found at the start of the program.

QUALIFICATIONS-REQUIRED:

  • Students must obtain a work permit prior to the start of the program if under the age of 18.
  • Students must be able to either walk to the school where the program is held, have their own transportation, or have access to public transportation.

QUALIFICATIONS-PREFERRED:


  • Full day availability is preferred but morning and/or afternoon shifts may be assigned and is based on program enrollment.

TERMS:

  • Hours are as assigned.
