Full Charge Bookkeeper/Accounting Specialist

Mountain Top Bookkeeping is seeking an experienced full charge bookkeeper to assist in the servicing of our growing client roster. The candidate expected to work part time from home; occasionally traveling to participate in team meetings in Morris County NJ. The compensation is hourly to be determined based upon experience and performance. This position is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated bookkeeping expert looking for the ability to work from home and be part of a growing firm.

  • Overall day-to-day management of financial reporting accuracy and on-time processing of client information
  • Accounts receivable: prepare customer invoices, record deposits, and assist with customer collections.
  • Accounts payable: enter vendor bills received by client, timely payment of client bills using online banking portal.
  • Cash management: enter and code bank and credit card transactions.
  • Bank reconciliation: reconcile bank and credit card accounts to monthly statements.
  • Monthly close: assist in preparing schedules and closing the books for our clients each month.
  • Sales Tax Reporting
  • Initiating and/or responding to various customer and vendor inquiries.
  • Administering Form W9 to vendors and processing annual Forms 1099.
  • Downloading data from third party sites and inputting into general ledger software.
  • 5+ years working with QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop is a must
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • Dedicated home workspace with equipment
  • Able to meet tight deadlines, sometimes in unexpected or urgent ways
  • Detail Oriented. Ability to organize and manage large amounts of data accurately.
  • Prior experience working in small, unstructured environments with little direct supervision.
  • Proven ability to multi-task and work under specific time deadlines
  • Personable, able to easily interact with our customers and staff remotely.
  • Strong technology skills using Microsoft Office apps (mostly Excel) and some cloud-based apps.
