A few responsibilities of our Boiler Operator include:

  • Your role operates, controls, maintains and repairs all equipment in the boiler room, including but not limited to; high pressure steam boilers, feed water systems, condensate return system, steam traps, chillers, cooling towers, water softeners, primary and secondary water pumps, electrical motors, air compressors, and various other pieces of equipment.

  • Your role monitors and maintains the proper water chemical treatment program and retains proper documentation.

  • You have a good understanding of the building controls system and oversees the proper operation of the HVAC systems throughout the hospital and makes adjustments when necessary.

  • Your role monitors all medical gases for proper levels and pressures, responds to all medical gas alarms and oversees deliveries of oxygen, nitrogen and nitrous oxide.

  • Your role responds to second and third shift emergency calls and calls in additional Plant Operations personnel as needed.




Required Education or Experience

  • Several years ’ boiler plant or plant maintenance experience or a graduate from a vocational school in a related field

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of the mechanical operations and repairs of boilers, water softeners, cooling towers, pumps, chillers and associated systems

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively

  • Computer knowledge of data storage and retrieval
