Biology R&D - Trial Systems Specialist (Hybrid) - Research Triangle Park, NC # 2300570

As a Biology R&D Trial Systems Specialist, you will report to the Head of Technology Integration & Knowledge Systems within the Biology R&D department, contributing toward BASF’s vision for innovative crop protection, digital transformation, and sustainable agriculture. You will be a core member of a global team working to support and improve our greenhouse and field trial data systems enabling the development of new crop protection solutions. These systems span Biology’s communications, trial planning / operations / data capture / analysis and knowledge management activities. The position will directly support Biology teams in the US and Canada, while connected with parallel teams around the world.

This position provides ongoing trial data systems support and training, while working as part of a global team to identify, develop and implement ways to help the teamwork smarter, creating even better crop protection solutions.

Core Qualifications:

M.S. or B.S. with relevant work experience in Applied Agricultural Data Science, Digital Agronomy, Agronomy, Weed Science, Plant Pathology or Plant Protection.

Knowledge and familiarity with computing systems, specifically Agricultural Research Manager (ARM), MS Office, and others necessary for communication, data collection/analysis, and knowledge sharing

Experience and working knowledge of crop protection research processes/techniques, agronomic and plant protection practices

Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills

Passion for agriculture

This position is office-based in Research Triangle Park, NC, and will require occasional travel within the US, and to Canada and/or Germany (travel outside of NC is estimated under 10%)

Preferred Qualifications:

Hands-on experience with the conduct of small plot field R&D research trials

Software development and project management experience

Familiarity with advanced spreadsheet techniques, and relational database design

Knowledge of best practices for agricultural trial experimental design, practical statistics, and data visualization

Ability to work independently with minimum supervision

Strong problem-solving skills

Self-starter, entrepreneurial spirit

Good listening skills
