DURING A TYPICAL DAY (IF THERE IS ONE)…

  • Pursue efficiency improvements in terminal operations and minimize downtime.
  • Interface and be the main point of contact with POET’s engineering and design and construction teams on terminal projects.
  • Act as the champion and driving force for enhancing the site’s operational efficiencies.
  • Sponsor capital improvement projects and provide justification to leadership.
  • Assist the management team with terminal shutdown planning and execution.
  • Work with the operations team to identify areas of operational improvement.
  • Develop new processes and help site to maintain regulatory compliance.
    • Enhance rail operations.
    • Enhance site traffic flow.
    • Develop and manage time studies.
    • Always maintain a team environment, champion POET and POET’s culture in the community and terminal.
    • Since we’re all about teamwork and getting the job done, your skills may be put to many other uses!

STRENGTHS OF A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, required; Mechanical or Agricultural Engineer preferred.
  • Experience in an operating manufacturing plant, terminal/transload operations, or similar environments preferred.
  • Previous project management experience preferred.
  • You are inquisitive, resourceful, agile, self-directed, and determined.
  • You are a highly-motivated person with the ability to effectuate change in a dynamic environment.
  • You enjoy collaborating, learning and you strive for continuous improvement.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills as well as the ability to embrace change.
  • You know the basics of Microsoft Office Suite. You’re capable of learning new programs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The work environment at POET is dynamic. You should expect a balance between time spent in the office and in the terminal, which may include some physical labor helping your team members.
  • Specific physical requirements may include:
    • Occasionally lifting weight up to sixty (60) pounds.
    • Climbing several flights of stairs and ladders.
    • Occasionally bending, twisting and turning while lifting weight of less than fifty (50) pounds.
    • Data entry while seated for greater than one (1) hour.
    • Walking up to two (2) or more miles per day.
    • Pushing brooms, shovels, etc.
    • Working at heights, in confined spaces and at temperatures from -20 to +100 degrees.
    • Standing for extended periods of time.
    • Wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
