JOB DESCRIPTION:

Sonoma Vein is located in Santa Rosa and seeking a professional, pleasant, organized team player to join us. We are a team of Cardiologists, nurses and professional support staff committed to helping patients with venous disease to obtain a better quality of life. The position is for a full time back office Medical Assistant. Experience is a plus but not required as we are willing to train the right candidate. Salary will commensurate with experience.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Candidate must be bilingual (English and Spanish), reliable, professional, organized, multi tasker with exceptional customer service skills.
  • Comfortable working in a busy environment and multiple providers
  • Enjoy working with patients and other team members
  • Must have excellent written, verbal, telephone and computer skills
  • Able to communicate with patients
  • Computer scheduling and EMR records entry maintenance

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES TO INCLUDE (but not limited to):

  • Demonstrate a professional, knowledgeable and pleasant demeanor when greeting patients in the office or on the telephone
  • Prepping patients and assisting the Provider for all outpatient procedures in Office.
  • Obtaining Vital signs and setting up room prior to provider walking in
  • Message taking and documenting
  • Maintain consistent flow of patients and be able to assist patients as needed
  • Common area and work space organizing, stocking and cleaning as necessary
  • Miscellaneous faxing and other paperwork as needed

Back Office Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Direct Patient care:

  • Rooming patients, including obtaining vital signs, obtaining reason for visit, and documenting symptoms their frequency, and severity.
  • Prepping and discharging patients for sterile procedures and "clean" procedures.
  • Answering patient questions and triaging post op complications
  • Provide courteous and compassionate care.
  • Documents all required information in electronic medical record. This includes meaningful use data and patient contact information.
  • Prioritize and triage patient flow.

Communication and correspondence including lab results, prescription management, and referrals:

  • Recognize urgent medical needs and triage care appropriately.
  • Provides patients with accurate information provided by the physicians when answering questions and concerns.
  • Maintains patient records and protects patient confidentiality.
  • Complete referrals accurately and appropriately.
  • Return calls as necessary

Maintain patient areas and supplies:

  • Disinfects, cleans, and re-stocks exam rooms between patients or end of day.
  • Assist with clinic upkeep, including daily cleaning and supply ordering/inventory.

Qualifications:

  • Medical Assistant certification from an accredited program desirable but not required for the right candidate
  • CPR Certification required.
  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
  • Demonstrated exceptional customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Experience with, and proficiency in, electronic medical records.
  • Computer proficiency: Microsoft office.
  • Bi-lingual in English/Spanish required

Pay: $15.00 - $24.00 per hour
