Behavior Health Specialist Supervisor Position Summary:The Behavioral Health Specialist Supervisor is responsible for the designated shift Arrowhead staff who protects and advocates for the rights of all youth residing in the residence while ensuring a safe, culturally sensitive, active/engaging and nurturing environment. This requires the oversight of the program to ensure the engagement and social-emotional learning of the youth through a strength-based and trauma informed approach. The Supervisor is further responsible for knowing, implementing and adhering to the policies and procedures of the agency and program, including the agency’s mission, vision, and values creed and furthermore ensuring that those in the role of a Behavioral Health Specialist do the same. The shift supervisor is responsible to provide direct supervision, on the job coaching and crisis management support during program hours. Position Responsibilities:1. Ensure that the shift team is current with all training and documentation mandated in accordance with programs, DCFS, COA and court placements requirements.a. Develop a corrective action plan for any discrepancies identified with the Staff Development Coordinator and Program Administrators. 2. Encourage and coordinate additional non-mandatory training for shift team, dependent upon program needs and expectations for professional growth. 3. Utilize de-escalation skills and principles to coach Behavioral Health Specialists for performance during crisis situations. 4. Support, alongside Program Administrators, creation and maintenance of staff schedule. a. Enforcing shift schedule and attendance of designated shift. 5. Support, alongside Program Administrators, creative engagement of both Behavioral Health Specialists and clients. 6. Maintain a clean, safe, orderly and healthy environment for the residents and staff. a. Enforcing policies and procedures to include dress code, safety checks, documentation, medication, and any other policies and procedures. 7. Provide culturally and trauma informed guidance to the residents within the framework of their treatment plan. 8. Effectively communicate with youth, individually and in a group setting, and provide direction and mentoring for their daily responsibilities. 9. Implement CPI (Non-violent Crisis Intervention) skills during daily practice. 10. Document information in BlueStep daily. 11. Attend staff meetings and trainings as required by the program or at the request of administrative personnel. 12. Document and process all Significant Event Reports (SER)in a timely manner. 13. Other tasks/responsibilities as deemed relevant and necessary by administrative staff. (Qualifications): Essential Skills/Experience, Licensure and Certification: All persons employed as child care supervisors are required to be in full compliance with all applicable requirements in Department laws and regulations, and must meetthe qualifications in at least one of subsections (c)(1) through (4). A person qualifying under subsections (c)(2) or (3) must go through the approval processes described in Sections 404.53 through 404.56:1) Be at least 25 years of age; have 2 years of college credits; 2 years of fulltime experience in a residential child care program; demonstrate skill in working with and managing children of the type served in the program; and demonstrate ability to work cooperatively with administration staff and persons external to the program; or2) Bachelor’s degree in social work or related human services field; or3) 5 years of supervised experience in a congregate care milieu. 4) Any individual employed as a child care supervisor prior to December 22, 2021 may continue to be so employed and is deemed qualified unless their employment changes. 1. Valid and clear driver’s license and approval from the state of Illinois Department of Children and Family Services to transport children. Must qualify to become insured by Arrowhead’s insurance carrier required. 2. Good writing, organizational and time management skills required. 3. Must be physically capable and able to successfully complete CPI (Non-violent Crisis Prevention Intervention). 4. Must be First aid and CPR certified. 5. Uses trauma-informed care principles/tools on a daily basis in execution of aforementioned duties. 6. Attends team meetings, service plan meetings, CQI meetings and risk management meetings, as needed. 7.
